Re: A Day-Dreaming Kind of a Day

I love the comparisons of what is and what was. I especially like the style in which you wrote the poem. It made me think of my own memories of how things were once. It leaves a nice feeling, though somewhat melancholy. I thoroughly enjoyed the poem.

Too Late

One click and your words come to me Black and white Still saying what you meant them to say I never knew you Unaware of your real name Now you are only legend I came a little too late I read in silence Unable to give a voice to the dead In mourning for one I never knew Your poems flow like tears int...

Very moving poem and very sad that he passed. So many things look so tired and worn compared to what they had when I was young. I can imagine how he felt looking at that old dam. Very well written.

Re: On being brown....

This poem made me think of my niece. My family is white. My sister dreamed of beautiful brown skin, as did I. My sister ended up married to a Mexican and had three beautiful children. Her daughter ended up with the darkest skin of the three. It's perfect as far as my sister and I are concerned. My n...

Pain Is Always Hungry

Pain is always hungry It eats a lot of time It laps the minutes up like milk - It's drank a lot of mine - It nibbles at the hours From one to twenty-four Then stands there drooling for the next - Always wanting more - It takes the worst It takes the best And moments in between It's not a picky eater...

I feel for those with the alzheimer's condition. One of my greatest fears is losing my mind and/or memory. It would mean losing myself to some dark oblivion. It's a very sad situation. I am so sorry your family must endure such a thing as this. Your poem is very moving.

I've walked that woodland path before When once, my mortal frame I wore I know the individual tree The moss The fern The filigree Of filtered sunlight through the veil I know I lived I walked the trail Once it was with mortal frame And at that time, you never came Just flora, fauna And the sun I cam...

I've often watched lines of cars and wondered about the people in them. Where are they going? Where have they come from? It even makes me feel restless in a way. There's even something about the sound of the traffic on a major highway in the distance that makes me restless and wonder.

This is a beautifully written poem. I believe God to be a real being. The Bible says his "eye is on the sparrow". And many, many times in the Bible, it says "fear not". I believe there is a place prepared for those who truely follow the Lord. "I go to prepare a place for you...
