How Long Daddy? ~ war child poem

(Following on from Tom's heartbreaking war poem, the truth of which almost had me in tears i must admit.)
How long until the light comes Daddy,
how long until I can see your face,
how long will I be in the dark Daddy,
can I come home ……I don’t like this place?
How long will I be here Daddy,
how long before you come to me,
how long before you find me Daddy?
all these stones ……they hurt you see?
How long until there is sound Daddy,
how long until I can hear your voice,
how long will my head hurt Daddy?
I am going to cry …… I have no choice
How long until the soldiers come Daddy,
how long must I fight for my breath,
how long before they dig me out Daddy,
I am so frightened Daddy …… is this death?
