Dear Knight i lend a candle t’ward thy face
wherein i sense desire thou hast denied,
as secret sensu’l thoughts thine eyes ne’er hide
desire to steal a kiss be no disgrace.
Tied well upon thy steed my fragranced lace
that thoughts of me shall ‘company thy ride
then, if i hear in battle thou hast died
my ling’ring scent did waft on thee with grace.

My love for thee dear maid i do declare,
to war and serve my king i shall be gone,
the months and years you wait are not yet done.
I cannot ask this burden thou shouldst bear,
but will pledge thee my troth when war is won
be there no new sweet heart thou found to share.

You have crafted a stunning classical romantic sonnet with a picture that accompanies it beautifully. It was a great idea to develop the octave with 'her' words and the sestet with 'his' answering words. I have read it over and over again for its brilliance Stella!
