Tête à tête narcissi chattering away
nodding heads like gossips do
“Did you see the snowdrops yesterday?
by next week there will be quite a few.
And the bluebells, I heard one ring
far away in the wood on the hill”
“Yes, oh yes and such joy it did bring
even though it is February still”
“I found a feather on my leaf today,
looks like the birds are making love
parading about in great array
and building nests way up above.”
“On the lily pond leaves this morning
two frogs were croaking away
no doubt they will soon be spawning
then tiny tadpoles will hatch and play”
“I like to feel the sun on my flowers
so today i turned my head to the sky,
oh it was lovely for several hours
until a cloud came passing by”
“Now days lengthen and are bright
we can chat from the early morn
I’ll look for you again tomorrow,
but now i must go talk to the lawn”
