A Gentle Heart

A gentle heart is like the first snowfall
it swathes and adorns all it touches
with a fresh, serene tranquillity;
cushions and eases the harshest world
with angel wings that bring kindness
to soothe and hush before morning.
The first quiet snowflakes turn to tears
within the kiss of compassion opening
the pathway of forgiveness and hope.
Layer upon layer they dance and make
precious coverlets to build faith upon
yes so exquisite is the gentle heart.
