The Falling Of The Rain (an Arabian sonnet)

I listen to the falling of the rain.
Familiar are the clouds, their smokey stain.
They gathered days ago and yet remain
Still stretching out across the woods and plain.

The raindrops sometimes drizzle, sometimes pour.
They dribble and they drip outside my door.
Impossible, this sound I can't ignore
As rain just keeps on falling evermore.

Perhaps I'll build an ark and sail away.
I'm so tired of the trickle and the gray
That drivel on with nothing new to say.

So let the gray clouds cry and let them weep.
I'll build the ark in dreamland as I sleep
On giant waves of slumber, slumber deep.

This is my first sonnet. I have tried so many times to write a sonnet over the years. I always ended up giving up. It seemed to be the iambic pentameter that gave me problems. But with some help from Stella I now wrote my first one. Thank you, Stella.
