Blue Heather Fields - Italian Sonnet

What dreams I'd dare to dream if I could find,
some peace within this hollow heart of tears.
Left empty for so many frozen years,
imprisoned by the loss of love maligned.
I'd wrench free of this Stockholm state of mind,
remember who I was before these fears.
Rejoice in friendship found among my peers,
and trust in the collective of mankind.

Perhaps I might enjoy life once again?
To walk among the living not the dead.
Sweet harmony I would myself to wed,
release this bitter agony and pain.
Yes, I will dance and laughter be my stead,
among blue heather fields I shall remain.

Well done Colleen, a perfect Italian sonnet lovely meter and rhyme .

There is something about writing sonnets that becomes addictive, you even begin to think in iambic pentameter lol; but oh the joy in writing one as lovely as this :) :) :)

As I read this thinking of beautiful blue heather, I also read of sadness which I trust is not in your heart. We write so much of our feelings the bitter hurt if I am reading you wrongly accept my apologies, if sadness lies there free yourself and find that happiness which you deserve.

It has taken me many, many wasted years to free myself from pain - now at 77 have a very weak heart and all I want to do is live long enough to complete my dreams.

A wonderful write and so love the title.
