A Long, Long Time Ago

I think of you
In quiet moments.
We shared a childhood,
But that was a long, long time ago.

Sometimes, that house on the hill comes to me
And our voices echo across the years.
I wonder what happened as
I think of you.

Somehow, you slipped away
Without the rest of us,
But I still remember...
In quiet moments.

We played beneath the tall pines,
Waded in the cool water,
And skipped across fresh fields.
We shared a childhood.

We ate dinner at the same table
And slept under the same roof.
We were sisters once...
But that was a long, long time ago.
