The Blind Begger

Postby Adette » Thu Oct 13, 2016 10:10 pm

Image

His mind held many pictures
Memories of haunted years
A past embedded forever
Silent are his tears

Tauntingly they jibe
Begger man why is it
you have no eyes
Were you punished
for telling lies?

Beggar man with your dirty stick
Clothes so ragged they do not fit
Where do you sleep when nighttime calls?
How do you tell when skies are dark?

Beggar man no shame a disgrace
Hair matted around your face
Eating food thrown into bins
Begging coppers to buy a drink

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The cruelness of the people stare and walk on by
They do not know me or how I feel inside
My eyes have seen such sorrow
shed a million tears
Blooded battles ~ bodies broken
my eyes have watched their fear
Grown men screaming in their hour of need
God be merciful ~ end their suffering please
Blindness would be a kindness but I can still see
Friends lost forever who fought beside me
Do not pass judgement on those that you see
Be thankful you are not me
I am a branch of a broken tree
Send down your Angels ~ take me home
End this bloody nightmare
My journey here is done
The two sides of a picture, sometimes we are too quick to judge those begging on the street, they all have a story to tell and thank you for this timely reminder as the cold days and nights are closing in..
Thank you s'tella I realise it does not flow (another free write) but this has a meaning for me.
Not all beggers are true though which spoils if for those who have had their lives shattered.
