Saddened now
Autumn's near
the moon peeps through
knowing her despair
Once dressed in finery
gracefully she bowed
Tall her spendour
A sight to behold
Gone her beauty
She's left alone
No birds for company
They too have flown
Her roots almost coloured
golden brown
Bareness brings shivers
She looks up to the moon
The moon being wise
Sends whispers her way
The leaves will warm you
Through bleak winter days
She knew he was right
Soon spring would return
The beauty of her leaves
Displayed once again
The moon smiles
contentedly
And waves her goodbye
