REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

I think of others when thinking of you
my dear grandpa

The sacrifice made by so many
They marched for the cause
Like lambs to the slaughter
Some mere boys

The suffering ~ the torture ~the pain
Enough to drive any man insane

++++++++++

Thousands of bodies dead or maimed
Others where only limbs remained
This the humanity of man?

One can almost feel their grief
Their sorrow ~ the silent tears they cried
The sleepless nights
Enough to rip the heart of any man
Wear your poppy with pride

Image

Every year we honour the dead
The price they paid to let us live
And now today 100 years on
What have we learned? it still goes on

Today grandpa Daniel
I honour you for your bravery
Wounded yet went back to fight again
Killed in action 28/09/1918
Buried in France

Image

Sleeping now the darkness behind
His hell was over~tears burned his eyes
His mother was there with arms open wide

A lovely tribute to your grandfather who like many others went away to fight a war that they believed would bring peace for ever. Especially the first world war was horrific not only in the loss but in the dreadful conditions in the trenches... a very brave generation of men fought in that war their feet rotting as they marched on :(

Tears are running down my face as I read this sensitive and heartfelt offering for your Grandfather. The video adds to the sadness and I love Secret Garden and I have their CD's. Also the red in your presentation brings in another powerful layer to this engaging write thank you Adette
