Bedfellows

Postby Stella » Sat Jan 14, 2017 6:30 am

Image

She stole into my bed again
slipping so easily between the covers
and i steeled myself against her
touching me,
but this time there were no harsh
words shouting in the silence,
no accusations, no demands of
keeping me awake in her
fretfulness.

Many times I tried to escape her
persuasive song as she tempted
and teased my inner-self before
deserting me.

She came quiet and gently in
caress of my soul until yet again
I could not resist her beautiful
longing.
Feeling her sensuous breath on my
naked skin so soothing so smooth
I relished the comfort it brought
as she cradled me in her lovely
lullaby arms.

This time she would stay all night
and share the pillow that had so
often been damp with spilled tears
of rejection.

She took me, she owned me
without resistance I was hers,
tonight sleep would be kind
and stay.

What a unique write this is and I thought there may be a surprise ending like she was your dog or guardian angel. It comes straight from your soul and I would be inclined to call it an Abstract Poem. It had me intrigued from the first word to the last, as it is a compelling reading I just love Josephine Wall's art and the picture is stunning. Also I really like how you have set the poem up, with words in between each stanza thank you Stella!

A lovely poem, Stella. I like the ambivalence. It leaves the reader looking back, surmising whether personification is in use of if it is a real bedfellow who has received this stunning tribute.
