Winter Solitude.

We, looking to "now"
..........................may see icy goodbyes.
Cold can scribe lonely,
...............................but for only a while.

The " now " has no
..........................special seasonal timing.
Winter sounds saddest
.........................when seen from behind.

Tho' drifts of bleak past
..........................still mist windowpanes,
Sun melts the quicker
.........................on frost written names.

Fine dawns ahead will
.............................break warmer before
Future birdsong begins
...........................and wings spring-soar.

in the moment of "Now" we shiver but yes Fay it is only for a while and then we will say goodbye once more to our chilly friend and look forward to our spring friend visiting. A beautiful write for all the "Nows" and the hope they bring for the future :)

A thoughtful work evoking the longing for Spring. Nice, Fay.

Thank you dear Stella and Ken for the perceptive comments - we all need the comfort of Spring when winter loss has done its worst.
