The Ballet (a Haibun)

Postby Cindy » Thu Mar 15, 2018 4:14 pm

Gathered in a slanted column of light, the tiny insects dance. They wear the light they dance in like borrowed costumes. They glow brighter than fireflies. Points of light climbing and dropping in sync. Swirling in the cool eddies of the coming evening. A shining ballet inching its way across the garden with the passing light. Higher they rise. Dissolving into the darkening treetops. Gone with the setting sun. Only when darkness has completely descended are they seen again. Scattered, contented and serene, across the night sky.

tiny insects
swarm in the garden -
night comes

My first Haibun. How is it? :)

It is lovely !
Beautiful imagery Cindy, and i really enjoyed visualizing the little insects wearing their "borrowed costumes" created by the light.

What a delight to see in the darkness :)
