Back in Delhi

Writen after a fleeting visit to Delhi
***********************************************
I take a walk down the street
Heading towards Connaught Place.
There are so many changes,
Bling bling replaces staid shops.
But, the street vendors still thrive.
They sell almost everything,
From palate tingling goodies
To intricate artefacts.

I notice hand made motifs,
On coloured cushion covers
Pedalled by a village belle,
For a song - fixed price Madam
She chants .. the big shops charge more.
We still haggle for a while,
Which is quite customary,
When buying on the sidewalks.

I return to my hotel,
Loaded with many nicknacks,
Picked up from the street vendors.
My companion is smiling too,
She will carry memories
And beautiful souvenirs
For her family in France.
I'm now planning my next trip.....

How interesting you make that trip around Delhi to buy souvenirs from the many street traders. A sheer delight to read your work Sandra and how well you bring to life the daily pursuits many like me will never see. Another great read and already looking forward to an account of your next trip. Thank you for sharing with us dear friend.

How wonderful Sandra, to be able to mix in the hubbub of such an traditional street market. the language, scents colours and imagery must have been very inspiring.

A lovely experience for you to enjoy..
