Last Night Home Tomorrow

The evening shadows lengthen
as the sun sinks to the sea,
rolling wave’s across the bay
glisten red for you and me.

The sand still warm beneath us
palms sway softly in the breeze,
this perfect summer paradise
is impossible to leave.

But leave we must it’s over
others now will watch with glee
the evening shadows lengthen
and the sun sink to the sea.

Been there so often Tom - that 'wow! is the holiday over already feeling' and trying to soak in as much of the place as possible n the last remaining hours. You penned it wonderfully here; capturing the longing and the sadness and also the thankfulness for being able to experience it and being a teensy bit jealous of those who have just arrived or who are staying for at least another day. Class poem!
