If I Could Name It

Postby Cindy » Sat Dec 06, 2014 3:16 pm

If I could name it
That I would
But somehow it's not there
Just like snowflakes on the tongue
Or a breeze that lifts the hair
Just the briefest vision
Like lightning in the sky
A shape that's always changing
Right before the eye

It is close, but far away
Like the minute just before
Beside this very minute
But behind a knobless door
I can't name it, but I know it
Like some forgotten rhyme
If one should hear it once again
Each word would come in time

It swims the channels
Of my mind
And I can't fish it out
It schools with others of them there
...My brain is full of trout!

This is a poem that I posted on poetfreak some time back. I have been sick with a very bad cold and haven't been able to write due to brain fog. This poem just seemed so appropriate. I just had to post it here.

I am so sorry you have not been well Cindy. An appropriate poem indeed and I must say I was so intrigued, I peeped at your last stanza before I had finished reading the poem. Great imagery and humour and I hope your cold swims away very soon.

Brain fog is horrible, and it is like trying to swim but getting nowhere.

I like the lovely flow and rhyme in your poem Cindy and i know exactly where you are coming from with it..the last line is a stunner!
