Winter at last in Mumbai

Winter slipped in stealthily,
But no one is complaining.
In fact they're all quite relieved.
October's heat had stalked us,
Right through November, leaving
The city hot and humid.

With the mercury dipping,
Mufflers make an appearance.
The homeless warm their cold hands,
Over flames along the side walks,
Right under the winter moon.
Chilly winds are tough on them.

The main markets are flooded
With delicious winter fruits,
Fresh veggies and salad leaves.
It is the time of the year,
When vegetarians feast,
Even the less fortunate!

Winter encourages all
To dine outdoors take long walks,
Enjoy the cool sea breeze toss
Their hair and touch their faces.
Being the shortest season,
One has to make the most of it!

Enjoyed this Samdra :) I have never been to Mumbai, just in transit. A lovely read. Mumbai must be mildly cool...coastal areas in India are at their best now..

Ah, but alas, that Winter is not our shortest season in Alaska, Sandra. I appreciate how you present the turn of season in this wonderful write, Ma'am. The joy at the cooling allowed can be felt through your narrative, my friend. Try not to let the chill get too cold, however, okay? :)

It is interesting to know what winter is like on other continents, for us it is not as welcome as for you in your very hot country Sandra..

I love this winter verse from another part of the world...leaves me smiling. I love the idea that you make the best of it, dining outside and taking long walks. A beautiful painting with words, I say!

An insightful read on Winter in Mumbai and I found it interesting that mufflers are used and I do feel sorry for the homeless. Thank you for sharing this seasonal write Sandra.
