The pulsating spectacular radiance of rainbow
allure with willing consent
takes cold weather long wait to see New Year
arriving, firey and brilliant.
Rapt describes that glitzy abandon of crowds
addicted to bright prismatic
flares drenching with sparkle the black-velvet
night by lighting year's passage.
Stood for hours scarved, gloved and hooded
staring wide-eyed at glossed
phosphorescence young-at-hearts cast loud
aahhs at every flying rocket.
Entranced onlookers display with applause
raucous appreciation
for silver-gilt filigree-dazzle as it adds glow
to all up-turned faces.
Scintillation soaks cheeks blush-red as inky
ceiling bleaches again in final
peach-glitter but only when the last splutter
fizzles do wide grins die.
A New Year's firework performance always
ignites my desire to sincerely
wish poet friends bursts of happy blessings
as time now turns to 2015.
