Silence

Postby Cindy » Sat Jan 03, 2015 2:32 am

Maybe silence isn't so invisible after all
Hanging like a fog over the room
Thick as pea soup
Maybe it has a face
This friend of mine

My constant companion
On the street
In an auditorium
Yes, even the bustling fairfrounds
Silence holds my hand

It stands between me
And the void of sound
So I don't fall in
To be lost forever

It comforts me
I almost hear it
Like kitten feet on carpet
I feel it
Like down against my skin

Perhaps it isn't so invisible after all
Maybe I had only assumed
And never bothered to see.

A lovely poem Cindy! Silence allows a poet to write, even in the middle of a crowd. A very expressive verse...I can relate.

Silence is oft times golden and I could apply this term for this gem of a poem. It does comfort one. This made me stop and ponder

A creative and fascinating way to describe silence, and especially after having a lot of visitors in the Festive Season, I certainly welcome silence. I really like "I almost hear it like kitten feet on a carpet" as I whisper thank you Cindy for such a lovely poem.
