A letter to Mom

A letter from a young girl to her Mother - a single parent
*********************************************
Mom,

I do realise, that I have not been
The ideal daughter at age seventeen.

I often threw tantrums and yelled at you,
I may have even thrown a shoe or two.

I've left dinners untouched, been difficult,
Just to be mean and your efforts insult.

I did not care to try and understand
The hurt I caused, when you took a firm stand.

Today, I see you struggle to survive,
With a mass of tubes keeping you alive .

I bow down in tears and pray to the Lord
To save you - there will be no more discord.

I promise to bury my stupid ways,
I will not from the righteous path stray.

When you get home from hospital you'll see
A different daughter - a changed me.

Love
Your little girl

Indeed, a splendid confessional. It was so remindful of my daughter, many years ago? Inspiring and uplifting and ever so tender with its
compassion. May life smile on you

Being a single mother is quite a challenge at times, thankfully this one persevered and even if a little late the daughter now appreciates the love of her mother..

A teenager is seventeen and has yet to learn important lessons. This poem has touched me deeply as single mothers can take on more than they can sometimes cope with alone. This would be a motivational and important poem for young people thank you Sandra.

Beautiful and very moving Sandra. In the heat and immaturity of youth, we do so many things that we regret soon after...very emotional pen.

Sometimes we realize too late what it is we took for granted for so long, Sandra. This touching, heartbreaking write certainly brings that to mind, Ma'am. If the mother, however, is able to recover, it would be fantastic to see this young lady change her attitude and actually show her gratefulness.
