A letter from a young girl to her Mother - a single parent
*********************************************
Mom,
I do realise, that I have not been
The ideal daughter at age seventeen.
I often threw tantrums and yelled at you,
I may have even thrown a shoe or two.
I've left dinners untouched, been difficult,
Just to be mean and your efforts insult.
I did not care to try and understand
The hurt I caused, when you took a firm stand.
Today, I see you struggle to survive,
With a mass of tubes keeping you alive .
I bow down in tears and pray to the Lord
To save you - there will be no more discord.
I promise to bury my stupid ways,
I will not from the righteous path stray.
When you get home from hospital you'll see
A different daughter - a changed me.
Love
Your little girl
