Sundered So

You’ve bound me, soundly, within your weave,
wielded iron, edged to reave
the chambers of my heart.
Your knowing smile tears me apart.
In boundless worry, I bleat like sheep,
retreat from sleep,
and, in defeat, I weep.
Can you not know this song I sing?
Within my innards, an incessant sting.
Catch me up and cough me out
whilst plagues upon my body shout
for just one sip of air;
into lungs, depleted, without a care.
You’ve bound me, yes, and knowing this,
my resistance crumbles into bliss
for you.
Mend me, Love, I’m so broken, true.
wielded iron, edged to reave
the chambers of my heart.
Your knowing smile tears me apart.
In boundless worry, I bleat like sheep,
retreat from sleep,
and, in defeat, I weep.
Can you not know this song I sing?
Within my innards, an incessant sting.
Catch me up and cough me out
whilst plagues upon my body shout
for just one sip of air;
into lungs, depleted, without a care.
You’ve bound me, yes, and knowing this,
my resistance crumbles into bliss
for you.
Mend me, Love, I’m so broken, true.
