Reflections of mine upon first seeing my
wife almost 30 years ago, and knowing
that it was she who owned my heart
from that very first moment.

a peekaboo moment presents itself,
and awash with wonder, i gloriously ascend
with eyes uplifted and heart unfettered,
filled to brimming with the anticipation of you.

carousing amidst the white-washed columns and pillars,
you, with your quirky way of smiling, capture my eye,
unleash upon me that galvanizing gaze that sets
this heart to beating, pounding, racing, galloping headlong
into triumphant thoughts of holding you within my arms.

my soul flies skyward while lips
take a decidedly upward turn, my Love.

i hurry on, not sure if the moment is right,
if the moment is upon us to meet and to sing
with joyous voice at the culminating feelings
set down on paper within my surging heart.

is this the time to take you within my arms, my Love?

the scrutiny of your eye starts shivers down my arms,
my legs, my stomach flutters, and my innards are in turmoil.
is this the moment, then, when rushing winds of ascendant joy
are meant to be winged upon, ridden, and to your side i should fly?

oh currents of heated air that catch at me, tear at me,
push at me to fly, to fly to none other than you!

this is the moment, aye.
this is the time for us, my Love.
