It happens sometimes

At the crack of dawn, wide awake -
They began to wander, first ambling,
Then picked up speed, like horses
Freed- let out in an open field.
There was no way to hold them back.
I felt them vacate my mind leaving
A vacuum - those fickle thoughts!

Steady at first and then galloping, not waiting for approval
thoughts can be like that sometimes they come so quickly there is no time for pen and paper.

The busyness of a keen mind will not be halted until all is done..

Oh! This is wonderful, Sandra we poets can certainly relate to this "Happening".

Very well done Sandra! I love how you have used the imagery of horses to craft these fickle thoughts especially when they are let out in an open field.

I love this! I've often said that it seems that my thoughts scatter like scared rabbits. I like that you use horses here. Very clever write.

Your muse just up and left and is running wild in some poetic jungle. It happens to us all. Stay calm, it will return..You are doing fine without it

Ah, but we are given that opportunity to let loose when the sun is new in the sky, Sandra. A bit of housecleaning of the mind, and we are made the better for it, Ma'am.

Ah , if only they would behave and stay in the corral until needed but of course the words are eternally wild - they are not like the broken stallions - they desire to be given attention or they will wander. The metaphor is very well employed here. Bravo Sandra.
