The Snowstorm

Postby Cindy » Fri Feb 06, 2015 9:51 pm

Last night the snowstorm came
Falling on an already white landscape
Covering the plowed streets and mounds
Smoothing rough edges

It came down
Seen only in folds of light
Felt in the shadows like a thousand icy kisses
Becoming one with the cold dark river

The storm stopped by morning
Having transformed the snowman in the yard
Now deformed, lopsided and odd-looking
Like something I may have met in a nightmare.

Brrrrr this gives me shivers with its great vivid images. My favorite line is "Felt in the shadows like a thousand icy kisses. And like Stella, I feel sorry for the snowman is such a precarious position and for those who built him too!

We face the changes that transform the very scene and environment around us, Cindy, and you wonderfully depict one such change that I, too, am quite familiar with up here in Alaska, Ma'am.

I can see it now....the Snowblob; a new horror franchise. If you want to be safe turn up the central heating. Lol Seriously, love this descriptive and evocative poem.
