On Experiencing Kindness for the First Time

It was not the screaming
or the rage that
brought the tears,

the constant goading
and the insults
only fell on
deafened ears,

for pain and suffering
was the norm
living with
the constant scorn.

It was the kindness
in the words
of caring strangers
not to fear,

softly spoken
gentle words
that caused the sobbing
and the tears...

Beautifully written Tom,
a little kindness from a stranger can mean so much... a relief from all the anxiety and pent up emotions coming as tears that help healing as the floodgates finally open.

A really thoughtful and tender write Tom as the kindness from strangers, can turn the bullied person's life around to hope. The sobbing and the tears are the welcome solace from the hurtful pain, as tears may heal a tortured soul.
