To Life, With Love-Sonnet

When I indulge myself with silent thoughts,
remembering the long departed past;
I think on all the wasted battles fought,
then turn my mind to sweeter things that last.

To hear a newborn baby's lusty cry,
to see the golden sun give earth rebirth;
Remembered love brings forth a blissful sigh,
these are the blessings that give life true worth.

Recalling friends whose death has dimmed the light,
to linger in the warmth of friendships glow;
Sleeping with conscience clear throughout the night,
these are the blessings thoughts can oft bestow.

Life of love, love of life- sweet memory.
When gone, dear friend, this way remember me.
