Mind your language, English, Vinglish, Hinglish

Postby Nishu » Thu Oct 30, 2014 12:55 pm

Ours is a nation devoted to English language
But we have added our special touch and twist
Born is now a desi confluence
Ah, welcome to the world of Hinglish Vinglish

We get muddled and jumbled at times
We make our better 'batter'
Shuffled are 'wowals and consonents'
As we with record speed....unmistakably chatter

Our windows and hearts are open wide
( You must beer us with a grin )
The air is simply not enough for us
We must let the atmosphere come in

'Don't angry me', our men may  proclaim
'A testy meal..yummy',  ladies gush
'Breakfest, launch, dinnar ' is made
You are sure to love it much

Subtract the end o from momo
And a  prawn mom will be served
'Accident porn area' , pleaze go slow
Stay 'clam'. Don't 'loose' your nerve

Cokes often becomes cocks with ease
A chilled bear is on the house
Let the lemon come to your aid
A mousse is now a mouse

Want a message from a masseuse?
But no jents, only ladees 'aloud '
Manycures are handy and possible
Paddycures to make feet proud

V and w are generously confused
J and z too
Romeo may well declare
Oh Zuliet, I lowe you

No matter what and where one is
Take it easy, do not fear
Even if you visit a 'pathologycal lab'
That says, blood is tasted here

Never mind all this now
Our own Santa will spread holyday cheer
As he wishes all and one a 'Mary Christmas'
And a phosphorous new ear

Mind our language, I reckon we must
But such is the Indian style
Till we get our English 'write'
Ladees and jents, pleaze smile.

( Some bungling, funny signboards and mistakes we make here in India . An indulgent look at us Indians ) edited

Hey Nishu you had me in splits with this very real Hinglish Vinglish piece! Have you ever noticed that word restaurant is almost never spelt correctly! I had the reputation of being a real pain when it came to signing letters- I cannot recall how many times I have explained the correct usage of principal and principle or advise and advice! Great write..

This is a fascinating and humorous read indeed and you have opened my eyes to another language which I would not otherwise known. I think we Aussies are a bit backward but I also think I will stay here and not get too tongue tied. You have made my day and it is lovely to see your work on this beautiful site Stella and her son have provided for us.

Nishu-so great to cross paths again with you. You messed up our English language in a thoroughly amusing way.I needed the laughter this provoked. A belated
Christmas cheer for you and yours
