Painted Reflections

Postby denysruak » Sat Feb 14, 2015 7:54 pm

Painted Reflections

While walking down a cobbled street
reading a book or two,
there came to mind in an offbeat way
painted reflections of you -
..... the way you smile
..... your hair in the wind.

While sitting in a country lane
mending my old canoe,
there came my way in a hazy light
painted reflections of you -
..... a tear on your cheek
..... your song of joy.

While riding along a muddy road
pedaling out of cue,
there came to pass across my eyes
painted reflections of you -
..... your hand in my hand
..... your sighs in the dark.

And when I reached a cul de sac
coloured a pale blue,
they came, ebbing from my weary head,
painted reflections of you -
..... yours whispers in my ear
..... and your love that's gone.

A wonderful form you have written in Denys , i liked the rhyme scheme and repetition very much.

Memories portrayed in painted reflections were everywhere you went and so she is not completely gone from you..

Agree with Stella. Nice form and imagery with the repetition of the key theme adding to the effectiveness of the poem.

The mind paints what the heart wants the eyes to see. All the senses at work here trying to recreate moments in time that brought great joy to the author. Little compensation for the loved ones actual presence but sometimes it is enough to get us through, that we just go 'ahh' and shed a tear at the memory.
This is quite beautiful Denys. Thanks for sharing.

Outch! I really felt that last line. Such a beautiful, wistful poem made all the more potent by the snatches of life painted with such appealing candour. Much enjoyed

Beautifully sad is this piece, Joseph and very well crafted too.
