All By Myself

They are oblivious
Chattering
Nothing important
Just words

I am bored
Tired of superficial conversation
Frivolous words
Shallow

I long to speak
But know better
They are oblivious by choice

I do not tell them what they don't want to hear
I remain silent
Knowing
All by myself.

well some folks listen but do not hear, others are selectively deaf and so i agree Cindy keep what you know all the yourself , it is they who are missing out.

Cindy-I am listening and totally agreeing with you. This is a telling and true breakdown of most conversations. Thanks for telling it like it is

After reading your poem Cindy I was minded of a quote that used to adorn my English Teachers wall at school (when slates were used for books lol) - it said "Those of you who think you know it all are annoying those of us who do".

Small talk is often just there to fill gaps in the silence that people find hard to deal with - a social convention that will be phased out altogether I think within a generation, given the penchant for screen staring when large groups of kids congregate these days.

The future belongs to the geek...
