Inspired by Thomas Hood's verse,
"I Remember, I Remember"
---------- ✂ ✂ ✂ ✂ ✂ ---------- ✂ ✂ ✂ ✂ ✂

Endless Night, endless Night,
this place where color's drained,
muted shades of grey and black,
rescinding Daylight's joy, restrained.
Corners hidden, rooms entrenched
in darkened Shadow's shell;
leeched, the tint, of vivid tincture,
whose hue's made dull and stale.

Endless Night, endless Night,
with pallid glow of moon,
covered more by leadened sky,
where oppressive clouds lay strewn.
Waxen face amid the gloom,
peeks out, a sallow'd eye;
pallor pinched, a jaundiced pale,
draws forth a weary sigh.

Endless Night, endless Night,
silence rounds the hearth,
lending credence to the need
for keeping clamor's dearth.
Smallest sounds seem amplified,
the thudding heart peals shrill,
hearing strained to discern the hush
fallen over the sudden still.

Endless Night, O' endless Night,
aggrieved, the stricken soul.
Smell the scent of Malevolence, seething,
the brimstone-stench of Sheol.
Know the creep of crawling skin
on flesh of mortals, all.
No means to end this darkened hour,
whose triumph means Man's fall.

But, even as despair takes hold,
and thinks the conquest won,
the blush of Dawn renews our Hope,
the Dark, by Light, undone.
O' endless Night, whose match is met,
by the Sovereign Heir, obeyed,
whose Victory, on Calvary,
in full, my debt, He paid.

What's finished is finished; the Lord has won!
The Dark, by Light, forever undone.

How bright the Sun's ascending rays;
worthy is the Lamb of praise.

Oh, worthy is the Lamb.

An example of superlative poetry which enriches more with every read. A glorious tribute to the ending of Dark by Eternal Light. Praise for this admirable work of great beauty my friend.

It is doubtful that you had need of inspiration. The deep, insightful reverence you share with us is a beauty in itself. It can stand alone.One
does not run into this caliber of writing but very seldom-a genuine gem

This is a masterpiece and so well crafted that I, the fortunate reader, had no choice to go with the rhyme and rhythm to the wonderful inspirational conclusion. Your talent knows no bounds and this is indeed an unforgettable amazing poem Richard.
