Yesterdays

little fingers
around my thumb
happy smiles
for dad and mum
walking away
first day at school
a kiss for dad
in Poppy's pool
shining eyes
in candle light
counting stars
on a winter's night
special song
to go to sleep
a little girl
is counting sheep
fairy castles
in the sand
walking home
hand in hand
at Seventeen
those days are gone
the path of life
your tread upon
but still I know
there will always be
these yesterdays
as a part of me

Dedicated to my darling daughter, Alannah...so many wonderful yesterdays.

A lovely tribute told with a loving heart. A real tug at my heart strings that brings back my own memories of my daughter's youth.

Ken, this is a delightful poem, and i don't know if you have any grandchildren, but i can assure you that these very special moments will happen again and you you will think about Alannah's childhood as you re-live all those magical memories with them..

Thanks all for the comments. Maybe not the best piece of poetry in the world but it came from the heart. Yes, my daughter loved it. I am so lucky to have these memories and, to this day, a lovely, loving daughter.
