Dream-catchers

Image

Dreams of you
caught in seductive, silken webs,
exquisite in the moonlight;
uncombed ripples on wanderlust tides.
Fragile feathers on see-saw winds
ebb and flow
twixt ecstasy and despair

Caught and cradled visions
of ancient poetic spirits
wistfully woven in mystical hues
of sun, moon and heaven in unison
a total eclipse from all reality
of wakefulness.

Devout dream-catchers keep you
for ever bound in celestial rings
of love, peace and divinity whilst I,
sigh in the sadness of solitude
too much in awe of the sun and moon
afraid of Heaven,
not daring to reach out and knowing
that you are stolen from me.

Stella-I am trying hard to not become a convert to free verse, but you are dimming my efforts with your splendid beauties.I am conceding. You
and Walt Whitman are convincing me.It probably to late for me to try it

A pensive write with an edge of melancholia due to the separation, Stella. You mix spirituality and reality within the heart's remembrances to effect a beautiful write that sings in sorrowful tones, yet also recalls those times of known joy, as well.

Isn't it amazing how sadness can become something so beautiful in a poem? And this is definitely beautiful.

Dream-catches are a fascinating subject to read about and stem from Native American culture and I must read more about them. Your free verse is beautiful and bittersweet enriched with splendid imagery. Also I love the dove and feathers in the picture with the glorious colors in the sky Stella.
