The Ghost of Me and Sheila

Postby chaos1214 » Mon Nov 03, 2014 7:34 pm

I saw you.
Then
You saw me
And your smile
Went brittle.
You’re with him.
I’m with her.
I know
You blame yourself,
And I am
Too happily inclined
To allow it.
“… If you really loved me...”
You said
And you were sorry the instant it’d escaped
Eyes gone wide
With the dire light
Of realization.
To this day
You think
Your words
Inflicted the fatal wound.
They didn’t.
They merely directed my attention
To the nearest exit sign.

"If you really loved me" the words of an uncertain lover.. if you have to prove your love then yes it is time to walk away..

Stirring and relatable. So much unsaid said here.
