There comes the explosion
of coloured petals like tissue
littering pavements, pools and lawns.
Spring-loaded
flower-heads sent but for one moment
on beauty's mission
are wrinkled by wind, shake then drop
in fated condition, to death.
There starts leaf-erosion
by summer-searing when tree-bark
grows beards full of cool damp moss.
Sol-devotion,
not needed by Flora's brigade, wants
more red exotics
and tough prickly greenery that loves
the sweat of subtropics.
There shows no emotion
attached to the effort plants might
make when blasted in earlier stages.
Heat-lotion
applied, Nature this time of year stops
to shade open eyes
and tries again to perpetuate Springtime
before sun fires hotter trial.
