Painful Memories Forever ( Tritina Poem )

by Tom Balch
In solitude my mind drifts back to days so painful
and I recall with sadness those darkest memories
of dearest friends and comrades gone and lost forever.

Never will I forget. Their friendship is forever
although they are gone, please God long live those memories
however sad, however dark, however painful.

I sometimes smile and laugh out loud at those memories
when we were young and thought that life would last forever
in the thick of battle I watched them die…so painful,

and painful memories ´twould seem do last forever.

A mournful piece superbly written . I am in awe of
your new forms Tom. It keeps poetry fresh with
ideas.

The Tritina is one of my favourite forms and you have done it great justice, as these painful memories are so real and heartfelt Tom.

Memories of this sort are so bitter-sweet Tom - the form adds a poignancy to those days gone by. Friendship is priceless and you pay it with this poem the respect it deserves. A heart-tugging read.
