Seasonal Cycle

When winter's wintry winds are sent
And spring has sprung anew
When birdies tweet, the end of lent
And buds shall bid adieu

When shining rays makes spring consent
To burst the bulging buds
And summer shimmers, heaven sent
In meadows and in woods

When autumn orders summer gone
And takes the reins himself
Then snuffs out summer ,leaving none
With vitriol and stealth

And thus the winds call winter back
O'er farmland and o'er fen
To launch once more an ice attack
Until its spring again

Steven, this is wonderful. A walk through the seasons filled with great imagery. It was the end stanza that brought a satisfied sigh from this reader. MORE! of the same please, loved it my friend.

A beautiful full circle seasonal write, and admire the alliteration too as 'burst the bulging buds' really caught my eye thank you Stephen.
