Thoughts on Your Leaving

I let these tears fall freely
not try to stem the flow
they are cleansing
and I welcome them
to wash away all that is sad
in my heart

Your loving touch is still upon me
I feel you even now
inside these arms that held you

Soon, after this despair
I know I must open the window
on my love for you
and kindly let you go from me

I will smile for the knowing
of your heart and all we shared

Just for a few moments longer
I must hold you in our love
pray to God that soon
the strength will come
for me to be able to say
Goodbye……

Deeply touching and so very sad, Stella. Yes the tears are cleansing.

So very moving this ode to last love and to which I relate so closely - - your words went straight to my heart Stella.

Saying goodbye can be oh so difficult and this poignant write is so moving I have tears in my eyes. I wish I could give you a hug even though this may have happened in the past Stella.

Turning loose a love,be it from death or breakup is so very hard as you have stated with
a deep compassion. There is eloquence in the way you write and you always seem to write from your heart. "I must open the window on my love for you" did grab me

Saying farewell is never easy, and we tend to hold on to and nurture the pain of loss overly long, Stella. As Joseph noted, this sadness applies whether the separation is a voluntary one or not (breakup, death, or even just when our children leave the nest). A beautiful and poignant write, Ma'am.
