Elusive Love

Postby Joseph Anderson » Mon Apr 13, 2015 4:34 pm

I spied my love fast stealing,
from the reaches of her heart
and hastened to it boldly,
sure to overcome it's start;
But, lo! It did elude me,
determined to depart.

Then came her love, pursuing
through our vale of agony,
O'er the walls of hopelessness,
with calm necessity.
Dear Lord, her love recaptured mine
and joy returned to me.

Holding on to a faltering love is never easy.---1958

We think that we messed things up beyond repair, only to turn around and be delightfully surprised that love did not depart, as we feared it might, Joseph. A lovely write that I much enjoyed, sir.

Love has its downs and ups and it was well worth waiting for. The last stanza is a joyful triumph, and I love happy endings and the way you have shared your love story Joseph.
