Ode To Death

Postby Joseph Anderson » Sat Apr 18, 2015 1:09 pm

If death shall be and endless sleep,
where all pressures, dreams shall cease;
One would never have a need to weep,
lying in eternal peace.

If death shall bring us to the place
where the spirit world reside;
Let's welcome then that saving grace,
with those spirits we'll abide.

In death I see no cause for fear,
when it comes as sweet relief;
Instead, I see a cause for cheer,
freed from trials and freed from grief.

Eternal peace.

I do believe our spirit flies free after this life Joseph otherwise i am wondering what this learning curve has all been about...

A ode to death is something for everyone to think about and i enjoyed your impeccable rhyming as always dear friend.

I don't see death as anything to fear. However, the journey can be another story. :-) Nicely written poem.

An excellent and thought provoking piece Joseph. Personally, and at this
moment in time, I do fear death. I like the way you have differentiated in the
last verse, ' when it comes as sweet relief'. I understand the sentiment. I
think that early death and unfulfilled life, may cause a fear. My fear, lies
in the unknown, and in being ill prepared at this point in life. See......
You already have me arguing with myself. Ha Ha

Such a fitting Ode To Death where positivity overcomes fear with happiness and peace. My favorite stanza is the second one as it really speaks to me, and I always look forward to reading your classical poetry Joseph.

A wonderful look at death in this well penned ode, Joseph. Certainly one to get the reader thinking.

Poetically, this brings about a sense of peace and fulfillment, Joseph. We shall know true peace once we cross over the barrier, sir.
