The Autumn Leaf

Postby Sandra Martyres » Fri May 01, 2015 11:17 pm

I watched its progress
with great interest,
as it pranced across
my lawn stylishly,
blowing with the wind.

It seemed much lighter
than its other mates,
still fastened to trees.
Of course they swayed too,
but, not the same way.

The yellowed beauty
moved about quickly,
up down and sideways.
I tried to grab it,
unsuccessfully.

In real life too,
we often chase dreams
that are out of reach,
instead of nurturing
those within our reach.

Very pretty. I love how you compared trying to catch a leaf to the chasing of dreams.

It is lovely to see a poem from you Sandra and enjoyed reading how the leaf could not be caught. Also I love the philosophy you have created in the last stanza as it is so true...

It is lovely to see you posting again Sandra, and on the beautiful theme of autumn leaves..

I love how they twist and turn and this one was very elusive.. just as our dreams and hopes often are, but you are right
we can dream as long as we appreciate the things we already have in life.

A life lesson given a poetic and beautiful voice, Sandra. How we often spin about trying to attain things that are not yet ready for us to take possession of....yet, there is so much that is within reach of us, yet we cast a blind eye and realize it not. It is wonderful, Ma'am, to see you posting again.
