May's Rising.

Postby Fay Slimm » Sat May 02, 2015 10:05 am

Image

Rock's chill in early Spring shadow
keeps leaf-buds folded
while greenery's frocks, still frozen
in fuzzy stiff mold,
reveal growth's frigidity goes
hand in glove with cold.

As ice-wind becomes zephyr stone's
rime loses control,
frost melts when pairing takes over,
plants' sexual role
exchanges gender, smouldering
with intent that shows.

May's rising sun resurrects tones
of need-coloured gold,
male and female lustily hone
livened desire, hold
hands, steal kisses and gene-loaded
feel blood embolden.

As time turns to love Nature owns
the chase will not slow
for copulation re-proves growth,
appearing sans snow
stirs fur, feather and human bones,
to what all are prone.

The heat of togetherness sewn
into weather owes
its success to overflowing
joy in warmth's clothing
for cold never turns bread to toast,
or so I am told.

A wonderful tribute to the lovely month of May, she certainly is very creative and refreshing after the long cold winter months when everything was sleeping, and i just love your two closing lines :D

Love this poem. Your words feel like spring. That's an adorable picture too.

A wonderful means of depicting the burgeoning and blooming that occurs as May takes hold, Fay. A delectable treat you have shared with us, Ma'am.

A poem loved this poem in your inimitable style.
The wording in the final verse is a delight.

The gumnut babies in the illustration are adorable and perhaps they are a May Gibb's illustration as I adore her art. I am blown away by the month of may's rising, and your brilliant composition that I have read over and over thank you Fay.
