of a time

Postby Nightmute » Tue May 12, 2015 4:03 pm

of a time,
a time,
a time when both of us would live;
when both of us would give
unto each other love.

and of a rhyme,
a rhyme,
a rhyme not clandestine,
for stoppering the pain,
not ever to have lain
the blame on each other's brow.
and we end up asking how,
just how,
we could have feigned the score,
and rhymed our way, no more.
it hurts me to my core.

but no, the shame,
such shame!
such times when wild was tame,
and laughter formed the frame
of our besotted, spotted souls.
oh, so much shame,
the claim,
our game to cast for fame;
the maiming of our flame.
it all turned out the same.

oh, of a time,
when rhyme
and shame were all we knew,
when games of chance with you
were never far nor few.
and how we strained, disdained,
the calling of our hearts,
the piercing, with our darts,
when our aim was often so untrue.

oh, of a time,
long gone,
when eyes of mine, to you,
were stuck, to thee, like glue,
yet you bid me fair adieu.
oh, when my cries,
my cries,
my cries of bitter rue,
were salted, brackish brew,
a draught from which i drew.
my misery, to strew.

if i could find my way,
my way,
my way back to yesterday,
in your arms to safely lay,
if i could only find my way.
but now the sun,
the rain,
the harbingers, today,
seek to keep me far away;
to lead me far astray.
but now to thee, to thee,
this melody of gold,
this song that time has told,
to wrap you and enfold
you in my rhyme,

my time,
my tongue to taste your lips,
your laughter as it drips,
and stains each of my quips.

please, give me time,
to rhyme,
to pause and to renounce,
my stupidity, with every ounce,
a chance on which i'd pounce.

but then, you knew,
you knew,
i saw it in your eye,
the tremor in your thigh,
you meant to say goodbye.

you knew to cast the die.

you cast it all too true.
and flew.
my heart, devoured,
ever mourns this view.

This is wonderful. I love the form. The rhythm is fun and of course the rhyming is perfect.

Music that fits perfectly to the old English manner in which these sad, oh so sad words are spoken Richard.

The form is beautiful, the repetitions sublime This is prize winning poetry my friend ... just breathtaking :)
