Unloving Love

Unloving Love

Heart of the ocean
secrets of the sea
when will this man
stop hurting me.

You turn the key
and I let you in
love flows like wine
there seems no end.

Changed my life
mended my pain
gave me sunshine
replacing the rain.

Fountains of love
that ran so true
have all dried up
for me and you.

Somethings I guess
aren't meant to last
why this happened
I need not ask.

Your love once ran
so warm and deep
holes in my heart
it outward seeps.

I'm feeling it flow
from me to you
I don't want it
it wasn't true.

I'm unloving love
I don't need this
not your touch
and not your kiss.

Within due time
my heart will mend
will I chance love
ever once again.

No probably not
cause after I heal
release my heart
don't think I will.

The depth of lost love shows in your every line here my friend - - love which was thrown back deserves to be called Unloving and you tell so well its dire effect.

You well pronounce the pain and defense mechanism we use when we are hurt in a relationship, Bono. A sad tale that, unfortunately, many have suffered through, Ma'am.

I missed this heartfelt write somehow Bono, the hurt and grief run hand in hand through every verse.
I especially was drawn to the phrase "I'm unloving love" it says so much about the withdrawal of a loving heart into safety where it will not be given out again.

Sad and poignant words that we all have experienced at least once...hopefully there is residuum of hope lingering and love will conquer all...Rose
