Successful Poet

I wrote a book in 20 days
and held the copyright
Now I'll see if writing pays
And if it's good...it might

I advertised for 20 days
To deadlines rather tight
Critics really weren't amazed
Or filled with fond delight

Wait an extra 20 days
A friend said " You are right
Your book deserves the greatest praise
To reach the highest height

And so I waited 20 days
To make my future bright
Boost the liter-ary gaze
And win the authors fight

So now I've waited 60 days
And trying as I might
Allowing for extreme delays
It seems my book...is S***e !

The patience forced upon us by the publishing houses is enough to drive any sane author mad, sir. Then they come in with their deadlines and such, and we are left feeling torn in two. I like Stella's advice!

Some editors can be cruel to writers and some do not even acknowledge receiving a manuscript. If you have a Writing Center where you live, they can be helpful. Although as Stella comments publish it yourself as quite a few authors are doing this now. Good luck with it Steven!
