There is a stark sadness when the beautiful stillness is disturbed, especially when it occurs due to some destructive force...and though the tree falling, in your verse, might have just been due to nature taking its course, it leaves us feeling the loss with the rending sounds made known. A well-played, and written, take on that ages-old question: "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" After reading this wonderful haiku, I believe it makes a sound that is enough to pierce hearts and make folks weep, Cindy.

Modern haiku can be so expressive as you have proven here Cindy.

The broken silence is awesome..
