Summer Maidens

Postby Stella » Thu Jun 04, 2015 10:22 am

Image

Shadows dapple dance
beneath woodland parasols
where wild and beautiful ladies
spread their gowns in free abandon
they lay on musk fragranced beds
longing to be admired, savoured and caressed

Pastel soft petals
lay strewn on green coverlets,
an enticing boudoir for a maiden lovers tryst.
Young love in the open, bathed in purity
how inviting for endearments and promise

Butterflies hover
and sweet kiss darling buddleia
as midday sun warms
and ripens her purple ecstasy.

Dainty cowslip
becomes shy hiding under fern’s skirts whilst
honey bee hums a tune of his undying love.

Heather, unabashed
flirts with outrageous blushes as the breeze
caresses her fondly within its arms.

Hanging heads low
in bashful embarrassment bluebells
quietly whisper in soft ringing melodies

The lake knows the secret
of the ladies close by
and whilst the swans glide on
in calm elegant pose
across the way surrounded in sensual tones
shadows dapple dance
beneath woodland parasols

A most fine and fabulous scene you paint for us, Stella. The beauty and innocence shown is quite delightful. A lovely landscape you've enabled us to become part of in this well-written verse, Ma'am.

You have dazzled me with such beautiful descriptive words of sounds, scent, and colour. I love the alliteration of 'dapple dance'. Also the gay abandon with which you write has made my day, and has given me many smiles Stella.

A sheer delight from beginning to end. The end verse
blending seamlessly into the first. Your portrayal and
imagery is superb here Stella.
