The wait - a spontaneous write

Postby Sandra Martyres » Wed Jun 10, 2015 5:21 am

Squawking birds,
Sweating horses,
Desperate farmers,
All waiting
Impatiently,
For some quick respite
From the heat.

The monsoons,
Have been playing
Truant for too long.
City folk,
Have their rain wear
Ready to be used,
But no luck.

Clear blue skies,
Every morning
Not a cloud in sight
Worse still the
Stifling heat
Rising mercury
Raise concerns.

Moreover,
The weather bureau's
Cautious rain forecasts
Bring no cheer
Only more fears
Of a bad monsoon.
Let us pray.

May our fears
Be unfounded,
May Rain Gods shower
Their blessings
Bringing respite
Across the country
From the heat...

Sandra, welcome back you have been really missed and it is a pleasure to se you here again.

Life in India is not easy and i do sympathize with the people who have to rely on the monsoons for water
it seems to be all or nothing with your weather and your poem descibes the anguish it causes so well...

Wow! The heat sounds unbearable with your vivid images and it is great to read your poetry again Sandra. I have been working on some projects so I have not been on the site for quite a while. I do hope your prayers are answered so you do not have a bad monsoon Sandra...

With scorching heat and no relief in sight, the people are made to suffer and despair, Sandra. We shall be praying that the weather turns better, that the rains are allowed to fall, and that the temperatures become more moderate, Ma'am. It is always good to see you posting, Sandra...I've missed your wonderful writes, my friend.

Praying with you for that rainy relief dear Sandra - without water must be so challenging to human and animal life - - my thoughts will be with you all in waiting for the monsoons.

It's a horrible feeling waiting for rain that doesn't come day after day. If I could, I'd send you some of ours. It's been raining everyday for a long while now. And it just pours for the longest time when it does. Highly unusual, this kind of rain for us. Hope you get some rain soon.

Wonderful poetry Sandra. You are both a poet and
a storyteller. I do hope you have rain soon....
