These Precious Things-Sonnet

Postby Joseph Anderson » Sun Jun 14, 2015 5:47 pm

These hands have rocked the cradles of the night,
sought sustenance to lead me on the way;
My spirit soared with eagles,'midst their flight
and lit the path I traveled through the day.

My eyes have been a beacon for my needs,
my spirit gave me guidance from afar
as hands became a planter of the seeds
that banished e'er the dread of hungers ire.

May spirit, hands and eyes e'er lead me on,
till hope is gone and faith must rule the day;
When yesterday, tomorrows all seem gone,
I must commend my soul to you and pray.

I now await life's last epiphany,
as time draws nigh for my return to thee.

Life's mortality is ever present- 2014

This is a fine piece of poetry Joseph. Powerful in
it's delivery, and with a meaningful message. I
mentioned the delivery because it has a kind of
'olde world' feel about it which is sadly fading into
the annals of history. Much enjoyed.
